DESCRIPTION:Die Stoner Psychedelic Rockers von VILLAGERS OF IOANNIA CITY betören Athen!\nVILLIGERS OF IOANNIA CITY wagen einen nostalgischen Blick auf die große Bühne Athens und liefert mit ihrer einzigartigen Mischung aus psychedelischen Hard Rock und klassischen Folk Instrumenten eine explosive Bühnenshow ab. Inspiriert von der griechischen Natur und ihren kosmischen Phänomenen hat die Band seit ihrer Gründung in 2007 zwei packende Studio Alben und eine EP veröffentlicht. Seit ihrem ersten Albums\, Riza (2014)\, haben VILLAGERS OF IOANNIA CITY auf den größten Rock Festivals gespielt und sorgten für ausverkaufte Hallen bei den größten Shows der griechischen Musikszene. Nach vielen großartigen Auftritten wagt die Band nun den nächsten Schritt und präsentiert ihr erstes Live Album!\nBasierend auf ihrer Live Erfahrung und der kurzen aber beeindruckenden Diskographie\, erscheint das Album Through Space and Time (Alive in Athens 2020) am 03. März 2023 via Napalm Records. Die Show baut auf den Songs ihres letzten Albums\, Age of Aquarius (2019)\, auf und wird mit weiteren Songs ihres Debut Albums und der vorherigen EP durchmischt. Angefangen mit „Welcome“\, „Age of Aquarius“ und „Part V“\, zeigen VILLAGERS OF IOANNINA CITY\, ihr Vermögen durch mit ihrer Musik Geschichten zu erzählen\, die sich Song für Song perfekt in den Kontext ihres Albums und der Live Shows einbetten. Stücke wie „Nova“\, „Perdikomata“\, „Skaros“ sind ein Exkurs in die Klangwelten ihres Debutalbums Riza (2014) und betonen den fantastischen Einsatz der Klarinetten\, Dudelsäcke und Gitarren. Der Einsatz der Klarinette gipfelt in dem kraftvollen Solo in der zweiten der Hälfte der Show während dem 2014 erschienenen Song „Zvara“.\nDie Band schließt die zweistündig Show mit den weiteren Songs aus Age of Aquarius und lässt sie mit einem Knall und der 2014 erschienenen Single „Karakolia“ gebührend enden. Through Space and Time (Alive in Athens 2020) zeigt die unglaubliche Detailverliebtheit der Band\, die sich durch die fantastische Produktion und ihre unvergleichbare Live Präsenz zeigt. Mit Gewissheit werden VILLAGERS OF IOANNIA CITY auch mit zukünftigen Shows ihren Platz im Rock Olymp sichern und ihrem musikalischen Können jedes Mal aufs Neue überzeugen. \nYawning Man\nThe aural experience of Yawning Man summarizes as an intense yet graceful kaleidoscope of polyphonic musical textures. Their latest album\nLong Walk of the Navajo adds on to their growing catalog of recordings and reinforces their long-held status as in-demand name worldwide with\n15 years of worldwide touring. Originally formed in the late 1980’s with the lineup of Gary Arce\, Mario Lalli\, Alfredo Hernandez\, and Larry\nLalli. 2022 lineup included Gary Arce\, Bill Stinson\, and the return of Billy Cordell (Brant Bjork and Kyuss Lives) on bass and rounds out\ntheir yearlong active recording and touring schedule. Arce and Cordell’s background together dates to co-writing the 2005 Pothead EP\nand hitting the road for Yawning Man’s first European Tours of 2005 and 2006. In 2023 Greg Saenz (John Garcia\, The Dwarves) replaced\nBill Stinson on drums and began writing new material for their summer 2023 Australian and Fall European Tours. The three together\nhave an approach that seems to flow within the songs and allow the reverberating tones to breathe into the atmospheric desert\nlandscape we can visualize with each song. Yawning Man is acknowledged and recognized throughout the underground heavy music\ncommunity as a key piece in the developments of the desert/stoner rock subgenres. While their contemporaries gravitated toward the\nheavy riffs of grunge\, and post punk\, Yawning Man leaned in another direction with their unique and organic\, cinematic compositions\nand psychedelic improvisations…the perfect soundtrack to encompass the spacious moonscape atmosphere of the well documented\n„generator parties“ of their area in the late 1980’s. It was at these gatherings where they developed this distinctive style and sound by\nenchanting spectators with their seemingly endless free form instrumental sessions\, which echoed through the beautiful deserts\, mesas\,\nand landscapes of the Coachella Valley. As time passed\, their legend grew with notable names of the Palm Desert music scene paying\nhomage to the group through mention and praise\, notably with legendary desert band Kyuss (Joshua Homme\, Brant Bjork\, John Garcia\,\nScott Reeder) doing their own rendition of the Yawning Man track „Catamaran“ on the 1995 Elektra release …And The Circus Leaves\nTown. Festival appearances include Hellfest (FR)\, Azkena Fest (ES)\, Reverence Fest (ES) Desertfest London\, Desertfest Berlin\, Up in\nSmoke (CH)\, Psycho Las Vegas (US)\, Stoned & Dusted I & II (US)\, Monolith on the Mesa (US)\, and various others. The recent\ndocumentaries on the Deserts unique music scene Lo Sound Desert and Desert Age give light on Yawning Man’s influential impact on\nunderground rock music.
